X-Lab is entering the Australian Market in 2025! Urban Pedaler proud to be the first dealer in the country and looking forward to the official launch of the brand sometime in spring 2025. X-Lab is the premium product line under the parent brand XDS in China. Awareness of the brand has risen quite quickly after the 2025 $30m sponsorship of World Tour team Astana Qazaqstan (now rebranded XDS Astana). Their X-lab brand is quite well known and popular in China, Singapore and the rest of Asia since they are produced and primarily sold in the chinese and asian markets. They are in the process of launching the brand internationally later this year. The process takes time, with translation of website, setting up distribution partners, translating all their bike-related literature and marketing, plus altering color choices, component choices, and model features that appeal to western preferences. This also follows as chinese bike industry brands have made significant strides over the past two years in manufacturing capability and technology development, as we have witnessed by more than a handful of brands like Wheeltop, Farsports, LTwoo, Magene and others. Their tech rivals top-level products from Sram, Shimano, and the biggest bike brands that we're all familiar with and they are making significant strides in global awareness, pricing, and service. The old thinking about China is being wiped away and we're seeing major advances in quality and innovation, with the bike industry, electric car industry, electronics and solar industries all being rocked globally by the rapid developments they are experiencing right now.
In 2025, XDS made a significant entry into the global professional cycling scene by becoming the title sponsor of the WorldTour team formerly known as Astana Qazaqstan, now rebranded as XDS Astana Team. This partnership introduced XDS’s high-performance X-Lab brand to the UCI World Tour circuit .
The X-Lab division represents XDS’s premium line of bicycles, designed to compete with top-tier brands in the cycling world. They are already one of the biggest carbon fiber frame manufacturers in the world, for many other popular global brands. The X-Lab AD8 is a high modulus, aerodynamic road bike featuring modern design elements that rival those from top-tier brands like Cannondale, Specialized, Trek and others. The AD9 is the flagship model with even higher modulus carbon and equipped with Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupsets and Vision Metron wheels, aligning with the standards of elite professional cycling.
In addition to the AD8 and AD9, X-Lab offers other models like the RS9, a lightweight climber’s bike, and the RT9, which boasts a remarkably light frame weighing approximately 560 grams . These models reflect XDS’s dedication to producing high-performance bicycles that cater to various racing demands. For the chinese market, they offer these bikes in a dizzying number of colors and framesets, something we'd like to see more of in our market.
