Mongoose is a name synonymous with BMX. Founded by Skip Hess in 1974, a mechanical engineer who designed the first BMX specific wheel called the MotoMag-One. The MotoMag-One was the first of its kind in the BMX industry constructed of a magnesium alloy giving the wheels strength that had not been seen before. The MotoMag-One changed the BMX forever enabling bigger jumps and tricks to be performed on than ever before.
Mongoose's impact wasn't limited to wheels. The company recognized the immense potential of BMX and actively participated in fostering its growth. They established a dedicated BMX racing team, sponsoring talented riders who would go on to become legends in the sport. This commitment not only provided a platform for these athletes but also helped elevate the profile of BMX racing on a national scale.
Mongoose's influence extended beyond the race track. The 1980s witnessed a surge in BMX's popularity, fueled in part by iconic movies like E.T. and Rad. Mongoose capitalized on this cultural phenomenon by sponsoring BMX freestyle exhibitions and demonstrations, with riders like Eric "Big Daddy" Rupe, pulling off incredible stunts and tricks on their trusty Mongoose steeds pioneering the early days of BMX racing and freestyle, further igniting the imaginations of aspiring riders around the world.

Mongoose has changed hands several times throughout its history, but its dedication to BMX has remained constant. Today, the company offers a wide range of BMX bikes suitable for riders of all ages and experience levels. From beginner-friendly models to competition-ready machines, Mongoose continues to prioritize affordability and performance.
The impact of Mongoose on BMX goes far beyond its products. The company's early contributions, particularly the development of the MotoMag wheel, laid the foundation for the sport's technical advancements. Mongoose's unwavering support for BMX racing and freestyle disciplines also played a crucial role in propelling BMX into the mainstream.
Now, Mongoose is paying homage to its heritage with the release of two all-new retro BMX bikes – the Supergoose and the California Special. These bikes are more than just reissues; they're carefully crafted tributes to the golden age of BMX, designed to inspire a whole new generation of riders.
